After the birth of my first child, I felt drawn to this miracle I had now experienced for myself. I called a doctor offering home birth and asked if I could apprentice with him and the nurse-midwife working with him. I still vividly remember that first birth, the mother's effort, the father's kind support, the wet crown showing more and more hair as the baby was born. Beginning as an apprentice making tea at home births, I received my Master's degree in nurse-midwifery at UCSF in 1985.
I started my midwifery practice 34 years ago, and am thrilled and gratified to be offering safe and joyful birth to my mothers and fathers at Alta Bates Hospital in Berkeley ever since. As an experienced and trusted midwife, I work well with the team of excellent back-up OB's and nurses in Labor and Delivery.
